Now that I got my new mobile platform, I decided to take it out for a road test. I have to say, I really like it. The keyboard I decided to get is a Goldtouch GO!2 BT wireless keyboard, and I have to say, it’s really nice. The keys don’t feel mushy like some of the other keyboards I’ve used in the past. It actually feels as nice as a full-fledged desktop keyboard with the added benefit of folding up to nearly the same size as my old Kindle Paperwhite. So extremely portable.
The iPad itself offers a sufficiently large enough screen to actually function like a laptop, yet light enough that I don’t have any problems carrying it around.
The entire platform I’ve assembled probably weights around 1/4th the weight of my normal writing platform.
Ok, I’m starting to take back my opinion of the keyboard. While it feels great, the BT has disconnected three times already. That’s not acceptable if I’m going to be using this as a replacement for my desktop. Sure, I can get it to reconnect easily enough by turning it off and back on, but that’s an annoyance I don’t feel like dealing with if I’m at the bookstore, like I am currently, and working on my WIP.
I know a couple other reviews mentioned BT issues, but they all seemed to revolve around actual computers and having outdated drivers. I’m pretty sure my tablet doesn’t require drivers like that. Then again, the iOS platform is new to me, so maybe there is. I’m going to contact the company to see if there’s something I’m missing.
Anyway, I think that, once I work the bugs out, my setup is going to function quite nicely. I’ll post an update once I get an answer back from the company.
